Introduction

The engineering product validation activity follows the build validation prototypes gateway.
As a result of this activity all the engineering product validation tests will be complete as defined in the product design activity. There MUST be no test failures. The testing is carried out at all levels, from the individual components building up to the complete product. Ideally it would be prudent to carry out all the component tests, then carry out all the sub-system tests, then the system tests and finally the product tests. However, to reduce the overall project timing it is normal to carry out all of the levels of formal testing concurrently.
The Engineering Sign-Off of the product indicates that the design engineering activities are complete and have delivered the desired product. The legal status of the product is secured and the product will be ready for customer representatives to use and assess.
